A neurologist, researcher and teacher, Dr. Lowenkopf joined Providence Health & Services in 2000 to start Providence Stroke Center. Dr. Lowenkopf supervises the inpatient stroke unit at Providence St. Vincent and has extended the model to Providence Portland Medical Center. Both units have received national certification as primary stroke centers. Providence St. Vincent was the first hospital in Oregon to receive the designation. More…

Dr. Okon is a neurologist specializing in stroke. He joined Providence Stroke Center after helping to create a nationally certified primary stroke center in Billings, Mont. Dr. Okon has been published in The Journal of Rural Health, Preventing Chronic Disease, Circulation, Preventive Medicine, Stroke and Lancet Neurology Network. He earned his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, served a residency in neurology at University of Chicago, and completed a fellowship in cerebrovascular disease at the University of Texas, Houston Stroke Program.
