"We are here to share both facts and feelings," says Chris Mulder (left), volunteer coordinator for Providence Breast Cancer Outreach Program, pictured here with survivor and volunteer Diana Oslund.
Advances in treatment and early detection of breast cancer in the last fifty years have dramatically improved the outlook for many women living with this disease. But the fight is not over. The American Cancer Society estimates that some 212,920 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
Providence is here to help. From extensive online health education resources to the committed involvement of physicians, nurses, advocates and survivors at the Ruth J. Spear Breast Center, Providence has succeeded in surpassing national breast cancer care and prevention standards.
