Clinical research at Providence Cancer Center is conducted under the leadership of Walter J. Urba, M.D., Ph.D., Todd Crocenzi, M.D., Brendan Curti, M.D., and Craig Nichols, M.D. All are board-certified medical oncologists who are members of the Oregon Clinic, a large specialty medical practice in the Portland metropolitan area. All are also members of the Columbia River Oncology Program, which participates in national clinical trials of the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), Gynecological Oncology Group (GOG), and Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG).
Gastrointestinal cancer research
Todd Crocenzi, M.D., is exploring ways in which immunotherapy can be integrated effectively into standard treatments for colorectal cancer and other cancers of the gastrointestinal system.
Genitourinary cancer research
Brendan Curti, M.D., focuses on developing biotherapy to treat malignancies of the prostate, kidney and bladder.
Lymphoma and testis cancer research
Craig R. Nichols, M.D., director of clinical program development at the Franz Cancer Research Center, is developing more effective therapies for testicular cancer, Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
