Elementary Montessori Program: 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Providence Montessori School's Elementary program is comprised of children, six to nine years old, who have completed their Primary Montessori experience. Students in the program will be guided by our bilingual, A.M.I. certified, Montessori elementary guide (teacher). The curriculum in the early elementary classroom provides students the opportunity for academic excellence in many areas including math, geometry, language arts, history, geography, biology, art, music, foreign language, physical education, cooking/food preparation and gardening. The elementary students at Providence Montessori will also experience our Science Camp-Out each spring. In addition to traditional academics, our school focuses on the development of valuable life skills. For example, the elementary students plan "going out" trips like expeditions to the library for research projects, visits to local businesses, interviews with an expert in a field of study, etc. The Montessori method encourages the cultivation of skills needed to select, plan, and implement steps along the way to accomplishing a goal. All these things are done by the children themselves - working together. A six year old will be learning how to accomplish the many tasks needed to plan an outing in his/her first year, and will evolve into a third year, nine year old whose experience and skill set widens as he/she independently plans the entire trip. The before school, after school, and holiday camp programs are designed to build on the child's Montessori classroom experience while providing families the care options they need to meet the demands of their schedules. Enrichment Programs are limited to space available and provided at an additional charge. Families choose from the options listed below: Before-School Enrichment
