 Providence Center for Health Care Ethics and the City of Portland Oregon are pleased to announce that we will host the 6th International Conference on Clinical Ethics Consultation from May 11 to 14, 2010. The theme for this conference will be, The Art of Ethics. This international gathering will follow in the tradition of the first three conferences hosted in Cleveland, Ohio, Basel, Switzerland and Toronto, Canada. The preceding conferences are scheduled to be held Sept. 3 to 8, 2008 in Rijeka, Croatia and March 9 to 14, 2009 in Taipei, Taiwan. The 6th International Conference will convene at the Portland Art Museum, located in the beautiful south park blocks district of the city. Portland is easy to get to, with non-stop flights from Europe, Asia, and many major cities in North America to Portland International Airport. Getting from the airport to the city center is a breeze on our MAX Light Rail and the Portland Streetcars. Hotel rooms in the area have been reserved and booking will be available at this site at a later date. A call for abstracts will go out later in 2009, encouraging the submission of new, original and especially as yet unpublished work in clinical ethics consultation in such areas as methods of decision-making and quality measures, the role of cultural competency in ethics consultation, mental and behavioral health, palliative care, and research and experimentation.
