Overview

Gately Academy offers a unique multi-sensory educational setting to students in grades 4-8 who are challenged by attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning language disabilities and other similar learning differences.

Gately Academy is fully certified and accredited through the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and through the Student Exchange and Visitor Information System. Gately aligns itself with a state-approved curriculum highlighted by the addition of enrichment courses, trimester culminating activities, performances and community service opportunities woven into the academic schedule. Examples of enrichment courses include Shakespeare (drama), American Sign Language, Speech/Debate, Environmental Studies, Traveler's Spanish and Ultimate Frisbee. A business partnership with Marylhurst University provides music therapy to our campus weekly.

"Every student carries with him/herself a certain level of untapped potential and creativity," says school director Dave Ball. "A learning environment that recognizes this can assist each student in unveiling a new level of confidence and contribution."

Those interested in pursuing Gately Academy as an educational option are invited to contact the school to schedule a tour and to request a list of Open House dates.

Gately Art Festival
The Gately Art Festival is an annual event that offers a glimpse into the importance of integrating the visual, musical and performance arts into our everyday learning. Students take part in artist-led workshops, artist demonstrations, performance art and art-making leading up to two culminating events held at Gately Academy. Students present and display individual artwork at Providence Portland Medical Center for viewing, and they collaboratively work on art pieces to be sold at a silent auction. Funds raised at this event go toward art equipment; fluid art supplies; and a donation to a charity of the committee's choosing.
