Question of the Month

Question of the Month
I have skipped heart beats, am I having atrial fibrillation?

Answer The sensation of skipped beats or extra beats, also known as palpitations, may be caused by any abnormal heart rhythm, including atrial fibrillation. Although infrequent palpitations are common in healthy people with normal hearts, frequent or prolonged palpitations, or palpitations which cause lightheadedness or shortness of breath, may be an indicator of heart disease and should be discussed with your physician.
