As a Guardian, it may be difficult for you to assess how much end-of-life intervention your client may want.
Would you have difficulty deciding the right time for your client to go onto Hospice? Are you confident that you know his/her wishes? Also, for some of your clients who are older, issues surrounding dementia often surface. Do you know how to handle the precarious behavior disturbances that may occur in your client? Are you able to distinguish dementia from delirium? Are you familiar with both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches in dealing with these issues?
Many guardians, elder law attorneys and social workers are not from clinical backgrounds. This conference is geared toward giving you tools and resources needed to help you speak with your client’s physician and advocate for your client’s best possible treatment approach.
