Make It Taste Good

Garlic and Herbs
Fresh garlic adds flavor.

Don’t forget flavor! The simplest food is transformed with the addition of salt and pepper and ingredients such fresh garlic, herbs, horseradish, mustard, hot peppers or Tabasco sauce, spices, and so on.

Eating food that is good for you doesn’t mean giving up good food. By allowing yourself the liberty of using healthy fats and seasonings, you can easily prepare a wide range of delicious meals from simple whole foods. How strictly you stick to these rules to eat by may depend on your particular health issues. Obviously a lean, healthy person whose parents are 100 years old can be less strict than, say, a plump person with diabetes.

There is nothing complicated or difficult about eating well, but it does require a good attitude and discipline. Accept responsibility for your own health, and remember that eating well is a privilege, not a sentence to serve. We all battle habits, preconceptions, and our own perceptions of what tastes good, but it’s amazing how easily we can slide into new habits and tastes once we come to know all of our options.
