For 150 years, Providence has served the Northwest by providing for people’s health care needs. Providence Laboratory Services continue to build on this tradition by contributing the highest quality laboratory services available. We are committed to work with you and your staff as partners in providing these services to your patients.
Quality standards
All work performed at Providence laboratories is carefully monitored for excellence. We voluntarily participate in extensive accreditation programs including the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JACHO). All Providence laboratories hold current CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) certificates appropriate for the complexity of testing performed. Copies of accreditation documentation are available upon request.
Safety first
Recent legislation has focused attention on the safety of transporting, handling and testing blood and bodily fluids. Providence Laboratory Services follows strict universal precautions in handling specimens. All specimens, regardless of their source, are treated as biohazardous material. Specimens collected for transport to the lab should be capped tightly and placed in transport bags provided by the lab. These bags meet all recent guidelines for safety. Our couriers follow specified handling procedures and carry safety kits in their cars.
