Providence Laboratory Services is a nonprofit, full-service reference laboratory specializing in clinical and anatomic pathology testing services. We serve 50 regional hospitals—a status that not only demands the highest quality of service, but also makes us better attuned to the needs of local physicians and communities due to faster turnaround, better specimen integrity, dependable accuracy, and trust.
Our laboratory technology is state-of-the-art, so you can rely on our speed, accuracy and efficiency. Perhaps our greatest strength, however, is our staff of 15 expert pathologists, who are board certified in multiple disciplines, including dermatopathology, cytopathology and hematopathology. Our widely respected pathologists publish regularly in peer journals and have written a number of pathology textbooks, establishing them as leaders in their fields.
Anatomic Pathology - Our pathologists are experienced at recognizing the subtlest changes in tissues that indicate the presence of disease, so physicians can make more accurate diagnoses and select the optimum courses of treatment. The newest technologies allow us to better observe chromosomal, DNA and protein expression abnormalities in samples and subsequently render superior results.
Cytopathology - We offer screening and diagnostic testing on gynecological, non-gynecological and fine-needle aspiration specimens. Gynecological services include both of the liquid-based PAP methods, SurePath and ThinPrep, with an average turnaround time of three days. Molecular testing, such as FISH testing, is also available to enhance the range of services available to physicians.
Hematologic Flow Cytometry and Flow Cytometry - We provide interpretation of leukemia and lymphoma photo typing based on a four-color analysis of a variety of antigens. By fluorescently labeling antibodies, we can help physicians identify tumor lineage for diagnosis and prognosis. We can also test for the DNA content of tumors.
Hematopathology - Our broad range of testing capabilities include tumor markers on tissues, immunofluorescence on muscle, nerve, renal and skin, lymphoma and leukemia workups, and various fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) testing. We are also accredited as an NSABP-approved laboratory for breast marker testing. Our medical staff includes internationally recognized experts who interpret results as a service to physicians.
Molecular Diagnostics - New technology and recent developments in molecular biology have allowed us to understand the molecular basis for diseases, which gives physicians the most valuable tools yet for making accurate diagnoses. Today we are able to offer everything from traditional DNA hybridization to nucleic acid sequencing and PCR. In addition, we continually invest in emerging technologies in order to keep up with the rapidly developing advances in this field.
Surgical Pathology - Surgical sub-specialties include bone and soft tissue, breast, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, head and neck, renal and neuropathologies. Consulting and diagnostic services are also available to surgeons in gross dissection, frozen section techniques, histology, microwave processing and staining. Other services include DNA analysis and molecular diagnostics.
