Series F: Photograph Albums
Photographs are sometimes removed from albums and numbered sequentially, according to their original order. A xerox copy of the album with pages and photographs intact is provided, so that the original order can be confirmed.
F1 Album I
Measures 5 ¾ x 8 ¼ x ½ inches, inscribed “Merry Xmas To Freeda Harmon From Marjorie Dodge Dec. 25, 1924.” Photographs dated 1924-25 with the exception of a deckled-edge print from 1957. The album contained 33 silver gelatin prints, 5 x 7 inches and smaller (most smaller). Most affixed with black corners, but some prints were tucked into the back and so do not appear in the xerox copies.
The photographs are snapshots showing groups of student nurses socializing and having fun. There is also a group portrait of the Class of 1927. Part of Accession 96:71.
F2 Album II
Photograph album measuring 7 ¼ x 11 x 1 ½ inches, School of Nursing Class of 1905. Album contains 117 primarily silver gelatin prints, with some collodion or gelatin Printing-out papers, 6 ¼ x 8 ¼ inches and smaller (most smaller).
Primarily snapshots of student nurses socializing, but includes some pictures of the surgery.
F3 Album III
Photograph album measuring 7 ¼ x 11 x 1 ¾ inches, containing 427 silver gelatin prints, 5 x 7 inches and smaller (most smaller). Photographs numbered 53.F3.1-291 were easily removed from the black pages, and were placed into archival pages in a three-ring binder. The remaining prints are fast to the pages, which are foldered.
The album contains the address label of Emma S. Berge (1918), born 4 Mar 1895 and died 13 Mar 1990 in Portland, according to the Social Security Death Index.
Snapshots show student nurses (including a group portrait of the Class of 1918); river travel; nice views of the footbridge and St. Theresa Hall; gardens and grounds; pediatric patients; Rose Philpott; deep snow in Portland, Dec 1919; patriotic parade up Broadway Jun 1918; family photographs and travel including farm scenes, fishing, motorcycles, etc. some as early as 1912.
F4 Album IV
Photograph album pages measuring 15 x 10 ¾ inches, containing 85 silver gelatin prints, 8 x 10 inches and smaller (most smaller). Many of the photographs are copy prints of images taken around the turn-of-the-century. The photos document nursing student life, facilities and sister personnel. Also documented are WWI Base Hospital #46 in France and the University of Oregon, Eugene.
