The surgery at the first St. Vincent Hospital, mid-1890s. Agnes Johnston, Sister Andrew, and Sister Alfred of the Sacred Heart assist Doctors K.A. McKenzie, A.D. McKenzie, J. Bell, and John Kane. The glass case on the right holds an array of scalpels, forceps, and other instruments, while a painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus hangs high on the wall.
