Dr. Stephen Hennessey was given the National Consumer Research Council's award as one of America's Top Surgeons. The council is an independent research firm in Washington, D.C. Hennessey was one of very few Washingtonians chosen.

Reinaldo Acosta, MD, says he hopes that additional ultrasound screenings provided in a national study ultimately will help improve outcomes for women with a condition that puts them at risk for preterm labor.

Providence Medical Research Center in Spokane has added a perinatal research section to its lineup of medical research areas, and is enrolling or preparing for several studies in that new program. Perinatology, also called maternal-fetal medicine, is a subspecialty of obstetrics and focuses on care of the fetus and complicated pregnancies.
