Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance is a not-forprofit
hospital that has served the greater South Bay communities of Los
Angeles since 1960. As a Catholic-sponsored healthcare ministry, we believe
that the excellent services we provide must be available to all, regardless of
ability to pay. We believe strongly in respecting the dignity of each person,
and give special concern to the most vulnerable members of our community.
The hospital is member of Providence Health & Services, an integrated notfor-
profit network of hospitals, care centers, clinics, physicians, home health
services, affiliated programs and services, and educational facilities operating
in Alaska, California, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
About the Area
Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance is located in the heart of Los
Angeles’ South Bay communities. It is within three miles of the renown Manhattan Beach,
Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach piers and the Pacific Ocean, where residents enjoy an
average temperature of 72 degrees and a smog-free beach environment.
Numerous outdoor activities are enjoyed year round including running, biking,
rollerblading, volleyball, and more. Plus, there is hiking, mountain biking, the desert,
shopping and rock climbing just a short drive away. For cooler temperatures, a two-hour
drive to the mountains means a full day of snow skiing and snowboarding.
Nearby Los Angeles is home to many attractions, including Universal Studios, Hollywood,
The Getty Center, and the Los Angeles Theatre District. Family attractions such as
Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm and the Long Beach Aquarium are just a short drive away.
Sports enthusiasts can take in Los Angeles Lakers basketball, Kings hockey and Dodger
baseball.
Programs and Services
The hospital has a reputation for clinical excellence and sophisticated technology with a

programs including:
Advanced Robotic Surgery with da Vinci
The pinnacle of minimally invasive procedures is in use at Providence Little Company of
Mary Medical Center Torrance. The da Vinci S Surgical System is used by surgeons on
staff with a vast amount of experience with robotics for gynecologic, urologic and cardiac
procedures.
Cardiovascular Services
Our cardiology department houses two
dedicated rooms for stress treadmill tests,
and two rooms for Echo tests. Our fullydigital
system enables physicians to access
test results using web technology at one of
our in-house workstations or remotely from
their office or home. In addition, our Heart
Center offers advanced cardiac catheterization
and angiography equipment, with coronary
angioplasty and open heart surgery available
around the clock. Our cardiology unit
offers 33 private rooms with a centralized
monitoring system.
Women’s and Children’s Health
The Women’s and Children’s Health
department offers a full range of educational
classes, and an inpatient obstetric unit that
is one of the South Bay’s most active. For
pre-birth care, the on-site Perinatal Center
provides complete fetal diagnostic testing and
genetic counseling. Infants born prematurely
or ill receive round-the-clock care in our
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) which
includes an on-site neonatalogist 24-hours-aday
and is the first NICU in Los Angeles to
offer single-family rooms.
Oncology
Our comprehensive cancer program includes
outpatient diagnostic services and therapeutic
treatment plans, medical oncologists,
and radiologists. Our radiation oncology
department at Del Amo Diagnostic Center
houses state-of-the-art treatment technology
including IMRT with multi-leaf columation.
In addition, we offer educational lectures,
cancer screenings and patient and family
support groups. An inpatient oncology unit is
located within the hospital.
Emergency Care
The hospital is a 24-hour Emergency Medical
Service site and serves as the paramedic base
station for the City of Torrance and areas of
the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
