Providence Newberg Medical Center is part of Providence Health & Services
in Oregon, a not-for-profit network of hospitals, care centers, health plans,
physicians, clinics, home health services, affiliated services and educational
facilities. Providence Health & Services has a presence in five Western states:
Alaska, California, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
The state-of-the-art facility includes a 138,000-square-foot hospital, a
45,000-square-foot medical office building, and a healing and wellness
garden. The medical center is nationally recognized for its environmentally
sensitive design, which ensures maximum energy efficiency and provides
abundant natural light to promote good health. It is the first Gold LEED
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified hospital in
the nation.
About the Area
Providence Newberg Medical Center is located in Yamhill County wine country, just 25
miles southwest of Portland. A 90-minute drive heading east brings access to snow sports,
and a 60-minute drive west leads to the beauty of the coast. Home to more than 20,000
people, Newberg offers the best in small-community living as well as easy access to the
Portland metropolitan area’s abundant arts and entertainment.
Newberg is experiencing significant population growth. Although adults ages 18 to 44
are the single largest population group, it is the middle- and senior-age groups that are
expected to grow at the fastest rates over the next few years.
Programs and Services
Surgical Services
Providence Newberg Medical Center is home to a state-of-the-art surgery center that
provides services in general surgery, vascular surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology,
gynecology, podiatry, urology, gastroenterology and otolaryngology. Patients have access
to minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures.
Cancer care and heart care
Specialists at Providence Newberg Medical Center provide care in cardiology, hematology
and oncology. In addition, Providence Newberg Medical Center has a new cardiovascular
lab and access to integrated, specialized services through advanced Portland-based programs
including Providence Cancer Center and Providence Heart and Vascular Institute.
Sleep Disorder Center
Our Sleep Disorders Center performs nocturnal polysomnograms, multiple sleep latency
testing, and wakefulness testing to diagnose central or obstructive sleep apnea, periodic
limb movement disorders, narcolepsy and parasomnias. Additionally, the center evaluates
the efficacy of treatment utilizing nasal CPAP or BiPAP.
Diabetes Education Program
The Diabetes Education Program allows patients to gain
the knowledge and self-care skills necessary to live a
healthy life and avoid complications.
The Birth Center
The Birth Center at Providence Newberg Medical Center
offers families highly skilled, personal and compassionate
care in attractive, private maternity suites. Breastfeeding
clinics, lactation consultation and a variety of childbirth
education classes are available.
Home Health Services
Providence Home Health offers skilled medical care
for patients newly discharged from a hospital or skilled
nursing facility. Home Health staff includes registered
nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists,
speech and language therapists, home health aides,
medical social workers and chaplains.
Rehabilitation Services
Staff provides physical therapy, occupational therapy,
speech and language therapy, and complete audiology
services.
Environmental Stewardship
Providence Newberg Medical Center was designed to
use recycled and environmentally friendly construction
materials inside and out. The building has specially treated
windows for improved heating and cooling efficiency.
Occupancy sensors control lighting, heating and air
conditioning, and cycle down systems when they are not
in use. These and many other features create a building
that is healthier for employees, patients and our neighbors.
Providence Newberg Medical Center earned LEED
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold
certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, a
first in achievements among hospitals.
Technology
Providence Newberg Medical Center integrates leadingedge
technologies that improve safety and efficiency.
Wireless technology, voice-over Internet protocol, and a picture archiving and communication system (PACS)
are among the many features that improve the hospital’s
response to the needs of patients, physicians and nurses.
Providence Newberg Medical Center is one of the first
hospitals in the Northwest, even the nation, to adopt
some of these systems.
