About the Area
Walla Walla, one of the most beautiful historic cities in Washington, serves as a primary center for financial, civic, cultural and medical services for southeast Washington and northeast Oregon.

Money Magazine selected Walla Walla as one of the top five cities in the nation in which to retire, based on its “top-notch health care, loads of culture, lots of green space and low taxes.” Traffic is light and commutes are short – usually 15 minutes or less. Abundant outdoor activities are close at hand, including hiking, hunting, boating, fishing, skiing, golf and equestrian pursuits. Walla Walla also boasts excellent public and private schools and three colleges, including Whitman College, which is routinely ranked as one of the top 100 liberal arts colleges in the nation.

Over the past few decades, the Walla Walla Valley has become a destination for wine connoisseurs, with more than 100 wineries. Many are award-winning, including several that have produced wines rated by Wine Spectator as among the best in the world.
