We live out our Mission and Core Values through our commitment to the communities
we serve. We feel a special responsibility to answer the health-related needs of
the people in our communities, especially the poor and vulnerable. In this response,
we continue a tradition of caring that the Sisters of Providence began in the West
more than 150 years ago.
Physicians are central to our Mission. Our thorough recruitment and vetting process
is designed to find physicians whose values match ours. We are interested in retention,
not just recruitment.
How Our Mission Distinguishes Us
Our Providence Mission is more than words; it guides us in concrete ways. Providence
contributed more than $508 million in community benefits in 2009.
These benefits included improving access to health care for the uninsured and underinsured;
providing financial assistance to patients in need; promoting medical education
and research; making grants and donating cash, equipment and supplies; and supporting
numerous other services and programs.
Our in-house Providence physician recruitment and development team is also distinctive
