2017 Open Enrollment in Washington state and Providence Health & Services

Open enrollment on the Washington Health Benefits Exchange is right around the corner, and will run from Nov. 1, 2016 to Jan. 31, 2017. We understand the important bonds you share with your doctor and local hospital. This is why we want to make sure that bond is not broken due to a lack of information.

Over the last several months, Providence Health & Services and its partners, Swedish, PacMed and Kadlec have worked with Premera Blue Cross to sign a three-year contract in Premera’s employer-sponsored health benefits plan. Given this information, it is important our patients know the following:

  • This agreement is only for Premera’s Heritage Plus plan – commercial/employer-sponsored health plans.
  • The agreement does not include Premera’s Heritage Prime plan, or Premera’s individual networks, Heritage Signature and LifeWise Connect, both of which are available on the Washington Health Benefit Exchange.
  • Providence also continues to participate in the Medicare Advantage plans for seniors 65 and over. Providence, Kadlec, Swedish, and PacMed will continue as in network providers. Our Medicare patients can continue to see their same doctor.

We also want to provide the following information to patients preparing for open enrollment with their employer, as well as for open enrollment on the Washington Health Benefits Exchange. We are pleased there are many health plan options available in the State of Washington that include Providence, Swedish, PacMed, and Kadlec providers in their Washington state networks in 2017.
