Providence St. Peter Hospital Begins Emergency Department Construction
New Entrance and Parking Changes Take Effect on Jan. 17

OLYMPIA—Starting Jan. 17, patients arriving at Providence St. Peter Hospital for emergency care should look for a new entrance on Ensign Road as well as a new entrance into the building directing them to the emergency department.

On Ensign Road, there will be separate entrances for ambulances and walk-in patients. Walk-in patients should follow the signs that say "Emergency," not the "Ambulance" signs.

The emergency department walk-in patient entrance and family waiting area will be located at the front of the hospital. The new location will be marked by an exterior canopy and signs.

Valet parking services will be available to emergency department and hospital patients and families. The new entrance will be used until the completion of the emergency department expansion in summer 2003. All hospital and emergency department services will remain open during construction.

The expansion project, called "Campus Renewal," includes a new emergency department, laboratory, two cardiac catheterization labs, an employee parking garage and public concourse; additions to the diagnostic imaging department, and medical and short stay units; and extensive upgrades to the patient care tower infrastructure.

Providence St. Peter Hospital, founded by the Sisters of Providence in 1887, is a not-for-profit 390-bed hospital serving the five-county South Sound region with comprehensive medical, surgical and mental health services.
