Volunteer Guidelines - St. Peter Hospital

Registration Process

  1. Please contact the volunteer office to receive a registration packet, 360/493-7482, or download an application.

  2. Once you have completed these forms, call 360/ 493-5199 to schedule an interview appointment with the Volunteer Services manager.

  3. Please bring all completed paperwork to the interview. The Volunteer Services manager will discuss volunteer opportunities with you at this time.

  4. After the interview, Volunteer Services will check your references. If accepted into the program, you will be contacted to schedule hospital orientation.
  • Hospital orientations are every Monday, except holidays, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Orientation includes information about safety, infection control, TB, AIDS, workplace violence and age-related competencies.
  • At orientation, volunteers will receive a TB skin test. Please bring your immunization record with you on this day. You will need to turn in verification of having received the MMR/Rubella vaccine. If you do not have this record, the Occupational Health nurse will discuss your options with you. Be prepared to return for a TB test reading the Wednesday after your orientation. You will need to schedule two additional appointments for a second TB test series the following week.
  • Be prepared to have your picture taken during orientation. Photo ID badges will be issued that day.
  • Casual attire is appropriate for orientation. Lunch will be provided.
  • On the day of orientation, a volunteer uniform and parking permit will be administered and a discussion about the details of department orientation will take place.

The Volunteer Services manager or the volunteer’s assigned department will contact you to schedule a department orientation. After you have completed the department orientation, you'll be ready to begin your weekly assignment!

Please note: Volunteers should be prepared to make a minimum 6-month commitment, unless special arrangements have been made with the Volunteer Services manager.
