Lifeline Volunteer Installers
Lifeline volunteer installers are needed for the Olympia area, as well as other Thurston County communities. Installers are responsible for installing a personal emergency-response system for the elderly and disabled in homes where the service has been requested. Training is provided. A four-hour per week commitment is needed. For more information, call (360) 493-7481.

Clerical and Office Support
Assist the staff with clerical and office duties in clinical and administrative departments. Opportunities are open to volunteers who need to gain office experience and learn new skills in a hospital environment.  Duties may include filing and collating, answering phones, using office machines and word processing.

Family-Care and Guest Services
Family-care volunteers act as liaisons between hospital staff and families and guests. These volunteers are caring people who provide comfort, support and information to the patient. They also assist in communicating the needs of the patient back to hospital staff. There is a special need for these volunteers at the Hospitality Desk, in Oncology departments and Pain Clinic.

Gift Shop
Gift shop volunteers serve customers who purchase gifts for patients, family members and employees. Proceeds from the two shops, Providence Corner and Lullabies, are donated to the hospital through a grant process to purchase equipment or patient services for various departments at Providence St. Peter Hospital. We currently have openings on weekdays and weekends. Both gift shops are open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Please contact Volunteer Services, 360-493-7482, for more information.

Service Learning Opportunities
We partner with various public and private schools, universities and community agencies to assist individuals in fulfilling service-learning hours for credit requirements.  It is our goal to match each volunteer with a worthwhile assignment. Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Pharmacy schools requiring volunteer experience in a medical setting can meet that application requirement at Providence St. Peter Hospital.

Patient Support Services
Volunteers work on nursing units and other areas throughout the hospital to support staff with various tasks, to enhance patients' comfort and sense of well-being. Volunteers build relationships with patients, communicating messages of caring.  They provide links between hospital staff and the patients, and help patients access a variety of services available in the hospital.
