Description of Event: SENIOR I&A AND STAYING INDEPENDENT WORKSHOP: Senior Information and Assistance and Olympic Area Agency on Aging Nursing Services are hosting a Senior I&A and Staying Independent Workshop on Thursday Oct. 22, 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at River of Life Fellowship, 308 W. King Street, Aberdeen. The workshop will include professional guest speakers, clinics and exhibits, including information on services for older adults and persons with disabilities, with a focus on staying independent and preventing falls. Clinics will include orthostatic blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, fall risk assessment, strength and balance testing, footwear assessment, medication "brown bag" (bring a complete list of your medications for review by a pharmacist) and the S.A.I.L. (Staying Active and Independent for Life) exercise program. Several free drawing gifts have been donated by businesses in the community. Lunch will be provided; so come and enjoy a fun-filled, educational day. Come for a short visit or stay all day. For ease of parking, free shuttle service will be offered continuously throughout the day from Pioneer Park.
