Description of Event: A free “Stay Active and Independent for Life” forum will be held at the Hal Holmes Community Center in Ellensburg on Thursday, September 25th from 12 o’clock noon to 4:00 pm.  The doors open at noon with Kittitas County legislators speaking at 12:30pm, followed by two guest speakers; Sally York from the NorthWest Orthpaedic Institute and Ilene Silver from the Washington Dept of Health.  The forum will focus on ways to stay active and independent, enabling you to stay in your home longer.  There will be strength and balance checks from the S.A.I.L. strength and balance exercise program, Yoga, and Tai Chi exercise demonstrations.  Information on home modifications, smoke alarms, nutrition, medication, and senior information and assistance will be offered.  A pharmacist and an optometrist will be on hand to answer your questions.  The event is sponsored by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Kittitas County & the Kittitas County Senior Fall Prevention Coalition.  For more information please call RSVP at 509-962-4311.
