Frequently Asked Questions

Do we have a "minimum score" for eligibility?
We have no minimum score expectations for any of our applicants other than that you have passed Part I and Part II of the USMLE within two attempts and pass the clinical skills on first attempt prior to matching with our program.

Are we a competitive program?
Yes, very competitive. We receive approximately 400 applications each year for our six positions.

Do we have any special requirements for international medical graduates? Specifically, do we require prior training?
No we do not have any special requirements; however, we require a clinical rotation of at least eight week's duration that involves direct patient care with a family physician in the United States for all applicants.  We also require applicants to have graduated from medical school within three years of beginning training in our program.  If you have been out of medical school greater than three years you must be employed as a physician in your country within the last three years or currently doing clinical externships in the United States. Observerships do not count for this experience.  We require that international medical graduates have active, unrestricted ECFMG certificates.

Do we sponsor visas (J1 student or H1 worker visas)?
We do not sponsor visas.  We do not consider applications with only an EAD visa.  You must be eligible to work in the United States by June 1st of the academic year in which you begin training  (example:  6/1/10 for academic year 10-11).

Do we accept paper or universal applications?
No. We accept only those applications submitted through the ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) system. Please contact the ECFMG if you need additional information on applying through the ERAS system.

Do we interview international medical graduates?
Yes.

Do I have to participate in the Match?
Yes. We will consider and interview only those applicants who are planning on ranking our program through the National Resident Matching Program.
