Postpartum Medical Care

Within a few days of going home from the hospital, call your doctor to make an appointment for a postpartum medical check-up.  The timing of this visit will vary according to your doctor's preferences and your delivery experience.  It will be scheduled sometime between two and six weeks after your baby is born.

Many managed care insurers offer a follow-up home visit after the birth of your baby.  This very important, beneficial service assures that you and your infant receive excellent care even after leaving the hospital.  We encourage you to welcome this opportunity.  A registered nurse will check the progress of your recovery, monitor the health of your newborn, and share friendly advice and information about infant care.
After leaving the hospital, you are always welcome to call your doctor or the nursing staff at your Family Maternity Center with any question you may have.
