The inpatient oncology floor at Providence St. Peter Hospital recently underwent a major remodel, re-opening in 2008. Central to the new design — patient and family-centered care. The floor now includes eight more beds and larger rooms, each with a window seat that converts into a bed for a guest. Artwork, soft lighting and shelves for patients to display personal photos give each room a soothing atmosphere. Laundry facilities are available for anyone who requires a longer stay at the hospital.
Physicians and medical oncologists staff the oncology floor and provide care to patients when they are in the hospital. These doctors work closely with your other physicians to make sure that your care is well-coordinated as possible. The floor is also staffed by certified oncology nurses, clinical oncology pharmacists, nutritionists and case managers (who work in both the inpatient and outpatient cancer programs).
