Volunteen Program - Providence Centralia Hospital

Making a Difference
Becoming a junior volunteer -- or "Volunteen" -- at Providence Centralia Hospital is a worthwhile and rewarding experience. It's a fun way to give the gift of your time while making a difference in the community.

There are a variety of ways you can contribute, such as working in patient areas, in the gift shop or doing clerical work. Your volunteer hours are valuable on college applications and work resumes, but most importantly, you will benefit from the knowledge that you have made a difference in the lives of others.

Qualifications
To qualify as a Volunteen you must:

  • Be at least 14 years old and in high school.
  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
  • Have a letter of recommendation from a school counselor or teacher.
  • Provide a copy of your school transcript.
  • Provide proof of MMR (Measles/Mumps/Rubella) immunity.
  • Have transportation to and from the hospital.
  • Make a minimum commitment of one four-hour shift per week or 100 hours total.
  • Complete the application form and a personal interview.
  • Complete a disclosure statement and Washington State Patrol form.

Health Requirements
If you are accepted into the program, a tuberculin skin test will be administered by our employee health nurse. You will also need proof of rubella immunity or MMR.

Uniforms
Volunteens wear navy polo shirts with the hospital logo, clean pants, and clean, comfortable shoes (no sandals). Volunteens must purchase their own shirts to wear while volunteering.
