More than $550,000 has been raised toward a $1 million challenge grant to support the work of Ken Gregory, M.D., and Providence Heart and Vascular Institute.
Earlier this year, an anonymous donor offered a challenge grant to support the Oregon Medical Laser Center, offering $1 million if Providence foundations raise enough funds to match that amount by the end of this year. Matching gifts may be directed in support of the center’s work on stem cell regenerative medicine or toward other selected projects at Providence Heart and Vascular Institute. Monies raised will help fund the work of Dr. Gregory, cardiologist and OMLC medical director, and his research team as they explore new applications for adult cell therapy research. Their goal is to improve the quality of life for patients with advanced heart failure, severe nerve damage and many other conditions that could be improved by replacing diseased or damaged tissues with new tissues grown from replacement cells.
