Nursing Across Providence

Providence and Swedish Health Services employ more than 20,000 professional nurses in hospitals, clinics and community-based ministries located in Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon and California.

Our nurses are clinical care leaders, collaborating with their health care peers to deliver exceptional, compassionate and efficient nursing and inter-professional care focused on the needs of those we serve. Nursing care delivery at Providence is our mission made visible.

Excellence in Providence nursing is reflected in American Nurses Association’s Standards of Professional Nursing Practice. We promote ongoing nursing education and professional development by setting high professional standards and offering support to RNs pursuing bachelors and higher degrees in nursing. We offer scholarships to nurses who choose to pursue a bachelor of science degree the through the University of Great Falls, a Providence-sponsored university. We also expect and promote specialty certification for nurses in nearly every specialty.

Our nurses are actively engaged in international outreach, contributing their service and skill to directly improve the health of populations in developing countries.

Our commitment to nursing excellence at Providence and Swedish is demonstrated in our journey to national Magnet® or Pathway to Excellence nursing excellence recognition for every eligible ministry. These rigorous, nationally accredited programs are the gold standard for outstanding nursing care. You can read more about these programs and what they mean to you as a patient or resident.
