About Anand B. Bhatt

Dr. Anand Bhatt is a board-certified Glaucoma and Cataract surgeon who has been serving patients in the Southern California area for over a decade. His practice, Orange County Cataract and Glaucoma, offers comprehensive eye care to patients with cataract, glaucoma, diabetes, dry eye, floaters and many other eye conditions. Prior to founding Orange County Cataract and Glaucoma, Dr. Bhatt served as a full-time Professor of Ophthalmology at the UC Irvine Gavin Herbert Eye Institute and the Veteran’s Hospital in Long Beach, CA. While at UC Irvine, Dr. Bhatt was involved in the cataract and glaucoma surgery training of more than 30 fellow ophthalmologists, including 7 other glaucoma specialists, many of whom practice locally, and was recognized for his excellence in surgical education by his trainees. During his career Dr. Bhatt has been selected as a Southern California Super Doctor and Rising Star and has been selected as one of the Orange County Physicians of Excellence by Orange Coast Magazine. Dr. Bhatt has also published many peer-reviewed scientific papers in the field of cataract and glaucoma surgery and served as a member of the American Glaucoma Society’s Patient Care Committee. His educational background includes being recognized as valedictorian of his International Baccalaureate High School in Palm Harbor, FL. Upon graduation, Dr. Bhatt was selected for admission into a direct 6-year BS/MD program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. During his time in medical school, he discovered his passion to save vision, and pursued a residency in Ophthalmology at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX. While in residency he was amongst the first resident surgeons in the U.S. to use astigmatic and multifocal lenses for vision correction with cataract surgery. He subsequently completed a fellowship in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma at UC Irvine. After his fellowship training, he was recruited to remain on faculty at UC Irvine where he helped to preserve and restore vision in some of the most difficult surgical glaucoma and cataract cases and gained extensive experience in all varieties of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. Dr. Bhatt seeks to provide each patient with the attention and care he would provide for his own family. Understanding that each patient is unique, Dr. Bhatt offers a wide range of treatment options including cataract surgery with monofocal, multifocal, and astigmatism correction options, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), laser iridotomy (LPI), trabeculectomy and glaucoma implants/aqueous shunts.
