About Celina Sears

“I try my best to empathize with patients and learn their story,” says Celina Sears, M.D. “I want patients to feel comfortable in my office instead of scared or nervous. My well-woman exam visits feel like catch up lunch dates versus medical interviewing.” Dr. Sears listens closely to patients to best understand their needs. “I care. I want to understand why someone decides to come in to see me and help provide what they need to feel better,” she says. “I want women to leave their visits and know that I care about them as a person, not a disease process. I am a medical resource, and my job is to answer questions and provide information. I provide the risks and the benefits so they can make a decision on what works best for them.” She especially enjoys getting to know her patients and caring for them over the years. “It's wonderful to take care of someone through multiple pregnancies and see babies I deliver as big brothers and sisters. I get to see women year after year for their annuals and learn about their lives.” Prior to joining our team, Dr. Sears most recently cared for patients in McMinnville. She grew up in Southern California, attended medical school in Missouri, and served for almost a decade around the world – in places like California, Italy and Japan – in the U.S. Navy. Dr. Sears worked in retail for seven years and as a bench chemist in research and development for one year before attending medical school. “Medicine allowed me to incorporate my love of science and interacting with people into one career,” she shares. “In medical school, I enjoyed caring for patients in the clinic and in the hospital and I really enjoyed doing procedures, deliveries and surgeries. OB-GYN is the perfect combination of surgery, continuity of care and women’s health.” When asked why she decided to become a medical professional, Dr. Sears says, “When I was 8 years old, I cut my finger on a glass while doing dishes. When I inspected my wound, I was able to see the layers of the dermis. It was incredibly fascinating to see what lay underneath the surface. I decided I wanted to know everything about the human body and medicine was a way to do that.” She and her husband have three children. In her spare time, Dr. Sears enjoys running, bouldering and Brazilian jiujitsu.
