Dr. Russ Shimizu is an outstanding neurologist in Santa Monica, who has been dedicated to his patients and community for over 35 years of service. He has a professional and compassionate personality with his patients, and his office provides patients with the best neurological diagnostic tests and treatments available in Los Angeles. Dr. Shimizu has had an impeccable career in medicine and service to his patients starting with practice in neurology, neurological­ surgery and psychiatry at USC Los Angeles County Medical Center, 1967-1968. He had a distinguished career in the United States Public Health Service and the United States Coast Guard where he practiced Internal Medicine for three years in Alaska. He returned to Los Angeles and completed his residency in Neurology at UCLA School of Medicine and became Chief Resident in 1974. Dr. Shimizu has been Assistant Clinical Professor of Neurology at UCLA School of Medicine since 1975 and a Clinical professor at USC since 2000. Dr.Shimizu is a trained provider of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy and treats patients with depression using NeuroStar TMS Therapy. which is safe and effective non-drug treatment for depression. NeuroStar TMS Therapy is an FDA-cleared safe and effective non-drug depression treatment for patients who are not satisfied with the results of standard drug therapy Dr. Shimizu served as Chairman of Neurology/Senior Staff at Saint John’s Medical Center and Santa Monica Medical Center. He was the Clinical Director of Electrodiagnostics at Santa Monia Medical Center from 1985 to 1995. He has been featured as an Outstanding Neurologist in Southern California in Los Angeles Magazine in 2010 & 2011. Dr. Russ Shimizu specializes in treating patients with: Severe Depression, Arm Pain, Cervical Dystonia, Headaches and Migraines, Peripheral Neuropathy (Nerve Pain) and other neurological disorders.
