Noah Marek, DPT

I graduated with my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2020 and my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2017, both from Pacific University. I am fortunate to have an amazing job that keeps me excited and engaged to continually learn and make a difference in others' lives. My clinical interests are in general musculoskeletal and chronic pain conditions. I am regularly studying and talking with colleagues to improve my skillset and to understand how we can better care for the patients we see. Central to my approach are three aspects. The first is keeping treatment simple and efficient. My goal is to efficiently identify the most relevant factors, perform techniques to reduce pain, and give exercises and strategies to treat the problem and promote long term results. This also helps avoid over-medicalization such as excessive physical therapy visits and unnecessary surgery and injections. Secondly, I treat each patient I see as a person, not a body part. This means assessing the whole person and gaining insight into their overall health and lifestyle. It allows for a balanced approach to treatment and to not be overly focused on one treatment category. It also includes knowing when to refer out to other healthcare providers to ensure we are using the right provider(s) for the problem. Lastly, I aim to be fully present each session and connect with the individual that comes to see me for help. I want each person I work with to feel personally cared for, listened to, and that they are the priority during their visit. On a personal note, I have lived in the Portland-metro area for my entire life and enjoy the variety this area offers in its geographical diversity and city life. In my time outside of work, I enjoy weight training, spending time with my wife, young daughter, and golden retriever, going on outdoor adventures, and learning.
