About Bruce B. Becker

Dr. Bruce B. Becker earned his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch. He trained as an intern and resident in internal medicine at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver. He subsequently completed a residency in ophthalmology at Baylor University in Houston, Texas. Following that, Dr. Becker received his fellowship training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery with Dr. Pierre Guibor in New York.

Dr. Becker is a Clinical Professor at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California Los Angeles. He teaches the UCLA residents every week in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Becker has twice received the prestigious award of outstanding clinical faculty at the Jules Stein Eye Institute. He has published numerous articles in peer reviewed medical journals and book chapters. Dr. Becker lectures extensively in the field of ophthalmic plastic surgery.

Dr. Becker has invented the Lacricath balloon catheter and the DacryoCath irrigating balloon catheter which have revolutionized the treatment of obstructed tear ducts. His inventions have helped thousands of children born with blocked tear ducts, tearing, and constant infection. Dr. Becker has also developed new tubes for use in the treatment of tearing and blocked tear ducts. He has invented many balloon catheters used for sinusitis.

Dr. Becker specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and brows. His area of specialization also includes the diagnosis and surgery of the tear ducts and orbits. He is one of the small number of fellowship trained ophthalmic plastic surgeons in Southern California.

Dr. Becker has three children and lives in Calabasas.
