About David B. Page

"In addition to providing compassionate and individualized care for patients with cancer, I wish to improve the quality of that care by dedicating myself to clinical research. I also reflect upon the unique experiences of each of my patients, in order to learn to best care for that patient and for future patients," says David Page, M.D.

Dr. Page's research investigates new cancer treatment approaches that harness the ability of an individual's immune system to recognize, attack and eliminate cancer. These new treatments, called immunotherapies, are effective in cancers such as melanoma, lung cancer and leukemia. He has developed immunotherapy clinical trial options for both early stage breast cancer (with the goal to increase the likelihood of cure) and advanced breast cancer (to improve upon the effectiveness of standard treatments such as hormonal therapy or chemotherapy). Many of Dr. Page's patients are afforded opportunities to participate in these trials. Additionally, he has expertise in the treatment of melanoma and other cancers.

At Providence Cancer Institute, Dr. Page collaborates with a broad team of immunologists and physicians who are working together to discover new immune-based cancer therapies in the laboratory, and to bring them to the clinic where they may benefit patients. Dr. Page is a member of the National Cancer Institute’s Breast Cancer Immuno-Oncology Task Force, which serves to advise investigators from around the world on the development of immunotherapy for breast cancer. He is the translational chair of an international clinical trial, RUSTIC, that is evaluating immunotherapy combination therapies for metastatic breast cancer. He also serves as the champion for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology for two international phase III trials evaluating immunotherapy in breast cancer.

Dr. Page grew up in Niagara Falls, New York, and spent much of his childhood cooking at his family-owned restaurant. He is excited to be part of the Portland community, where in addition to advancing breast cancer care, he continues to be an avid cook, camper and dog owner. Dr. Page's recent publications may be viewed at PubMed.
