About Don F. Lum

"I believe shared decision making between the patient and provider is important for the delivery of excellent health care. I also feel patients should embrace preventative medicine and be pro-active in their health care decision making."

Dr. Lum attended medical school at the University of California at Davis. He completed his residency and was Chief Resident in internal medicine at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Dr. Lum completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of California in San Francisco. He has received several honors and awards including being inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Lum is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, a fellow in the American College of Gastroenterology, and is the current ACG Governor for the state of Oregon. He formerly served as Associate Chief of Gastroenterology for the VA Northern California Healthcare System and was clinical faculty at UC Davis Medical Center.

Dr. Lum's major focus is inflammatory bowel disease. He chairs the Portland Citywide Inflammatory Bowel Disease conference and is Deputy Director of Member Engagement for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation IBD Qorus quality improvement program. He is the Associate Director of IBD RADIUS, which is a telemedicine program supporting IBD care for patients and providers in rural areas throughout the United States.

Dr. Lum grew up on a fruit farm near Napa Valley. He enjoys traveling with his spouse and three children. He's an avid road cyclist and enjoys cycling in the Pacific Northwest despite all the rainy days. He enjoys rooting for the Blazers and Timbers, but remains a loyal fan of the 49ers!
