Professional Statement
Dr. Taw was born and raised in Los Angeles. After graduation from Occidental College, he moved to Baltimore and the Johns Hopkins Hospital. There he completed Medical School, Internship, Residency, Cardiology Fellowship and Chief Residency in Internal Medicine. He came home to Los Angeles and the UCLA faculty as Director of the Non-Invasive Cardiology Department. Desiring more patient care and less academic research, he moved into private practice in Santa Monica where he helped build and then manage a 10 physician cardiology group. In 1994 he established the Preventive Cardiology Center to better pursue prevention in addition to treatment of cardiac and vascular disease. In this era of narrow specialization, Dr. Taw has an uncommonly broad experience in emergency, hospital and outpatient treatment of cardiovascular disease. He is a recognized expert in echocardiography and duplex vascular imaging, clinical lipidology (cholesterol disorders), and prevention of atherosclerotic vascular diseases. He has a reputation for excellence in patient care which he credits to the highly skilled team he has assembled including his nurse practitioner and patient care coordinator. He continues to practice traditional medical care based on longstanding physician- patient relationships helped by the right staff support.
