Professional Statement
Amy Munro, DO, decided to become a pediatrician because she loves working with children and finds it just as rewarding to work with parents too. “It is my privilege and joy to help families with what is most important and precious to them,” she says. In her practice, Dr. Munro emphasizes the importance of communication and partnership with her patients and their parents, which she says are essential in tackling the concerns and challenges of parenting, from development to behavior to illness. She also is fascinated and humbled by the strength and resilience of children. “They have an amazing, inherent ability to heal,” she marvels. “I often see my role as one who is respectful and supportive of this natural healing process." Dr. Munro earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Washington University in St. Louis, in Kansas City, Missouri. She went on to study osteopathic medicine at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City and completed her internship and residency with the University of Kansas. For the ease of her patients and their families, Dr. Munro has evening hours several weekdays. As a Midwest transplant, now nearly a decade ago, Dr. Munro continues to be amazed at and enjoy the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. She loves the outdoors, hiking with her dogs, backpacking, gardening, and skiing.

I was very worried & the doctor said it was because I was a first time parent. But any parent would be worried in my situation.

Dr. Munro could care less. Every time I bring my child in its a 5 min. talk about how there is nothing she can do and then she leaves.

I appreciated that she did not address my daughter's weight in a negative way or in a fashion that my lead my daughter to feel bad. She was very respectful.
