Sophia M. R. Lannon, MD

Dr. Lannon grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill for her undergraduate degree in nutritional science, as well as her medical degree and Master of Public Health in epidemiology. She completed her OB/GYN specialty training at OHSU and her maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at the University of Washington. Dr. Lannon has been a member of the teaching faculty at the University of Washington since 2011. She was honored in 2015 with a teaching award by the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology division of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Lannon guides women facing unexpected and sometimes significant challenges during high risk pregnancies toward making decisions that result in the healthiest possible outcomes for mother and child. Although she is passionate about helping families through all high risk pregnancies, she has a particular interest in managing anticipated and unanticipated preterm birth. Dr. Lannon has published articles on the timing of very preterm cesarean deliveries, timing of antenatal steroids, infectious causes of preterm labor, the risk of adverse obstetric outcomes among Native American women and the use of antihypertensive medication in pregnancy.

Dr. Lannon and her husband have two small children. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling and outdoor recreation, such as hiking, bicycling and running with her dog.
