About Richard D. Knowles
Richard Knowles, M.D., is a family medicine physician who chose to become a medical provider because his Mom and three older siblings are all in health care.
In his practice, Dr. Knowles emphasizes a healthy diet and exercise, along with prevention and screening, which he believes can make all the difference in the world. He views himself as a health advisor and provides his patients with all the available information to help them make the best decisions. What he enjoys most about being a medical provider is when he is told by a patient that he made a positive impact in their life. “My role is to provide the patient with accurate, evidence-based information about their condition or diagnosis,” he explains, “and then develop a care plan that effectively works best for them. Most days, both the patient and I are happy with the outcome.”
Dr. Knowles earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean. He completed his internship and residency training at Group Health Permanente in Seattle.
Although he was born and raised in Alaska, Dr. Knowles has lived in the Dutch West Indies and England. In his free time, he works out at the gym five to six days a week. He and his spouse, who is Australian, love their pets, finding new restaurants, reading and traveling the world.
