Kim Schmitt, MD, joined NCMA Otolaryngology | Head & Neck Surgery | Ear, Nose & Throat in December 2019. Board certified in her field, she sees the full spectrum of ear, nose and throat problems in both adult and pediatric patients with special expertise in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the nose, sinuses, snoring and sleep apnea.
Dr. Schmitt received her undergraduate degree in Mathematics and French from the University of Alabama while following a pre-medical curriculum. At graduation she received the school’s top honor, the Distinguished Undergraduate Scholar Award, given for maintaining the highest academic average of the University.
She attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama (UAB) where she was inducted into the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Her internship in General Surgery and residency in Otolaryngology were both performed at the prestigious UAB, as well.
Dr. Schmitt then lived in Miami, Florida and Paris, France, before settling back in Birmingham where she held a solo private private practice in otorhinolaryngology and sleep medicine for more than 20 years.
When not working she enjoys dancing, hiking, gardening and reading. Her daughter and son-in-law are attorneys in Atlanta, Georgia.
