About Robin L. Grendahl

Dr Robin Grendahl has been practicing ophthalmology in Anchorage since 1996. She originally hales from southern Minnesota and moved to Anchorage at age thirteen when her father, Dr Marvin Grendahl, brought his young family to Alaska and opened his ophthalmology practice in 1977. While attending Service High School, Dr Robin began working in her father’s practice. After high school, she attended the University of San Diego and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She was a member of the prestigious Alcala Women’s Club Service Organization and received the Biology Department Service Award and the Superior Scholastic Achievement Award. Dr Robin attended the University of Washington School of Medicine as a WWAMI student. She was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the Medical Honor Society, and graduated with honors. She completed a categorical Internal Medicine internship at the University of Washington (UW) and then completed her residency in Ophthalmology at the UW under the direction of Robert E Kalina, MD. Dr Robin’s experience at Seattle Children’s Hospital inspired her to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr Robin returned home to Alaska in 1996. She and her father founded Grendahl Eye Associates . In 2013, after Dr. Marvin Grendahl retired, she became a founding member of Alaska Children’s Eye and Strabismus. Dr Robert Arnold, Dr Robin Grendahl, and Dr Kevin Winkle together formed the first and only pediatric ophthalmology practice in the State of Alaska. Dr Robin and her husband, Kris, have two wonderful boys. They enjoy Nordic and Alpine skiing, hiking and camping in the great outdoors. She is honored to provide eye care for Alaskan families.
