About Richard L. Friedman

Richard L. Friedman, MD, PhD, is board certified in gynecologic oncology. He received his medical degree and a PhD in biochemistry from the Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in obstetrics and gynecology at the Los Angeles County University of Southern California Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Friedman is committed to excellence in comprehensive health care for women. He has been practicing in the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center since it opened on 2010 and has been based at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center since 2004. His approach involves understanding the patient’s health care needs and implementing state-of-the-art techniques and compassionate care. Dr. Friedman’s clinical interests include ovarian cancer, minimally invasive cancer surgery, and complex pelvic surgery. He believes that the elimination of HPV-related diseases is an achievable goal and that universal vaccination of eligible patients is the key to this achievement.
