About M.J. Strauhal

MJ currently serves as the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) lead therapist for the Pelvic Health program at Providence Health and Services in Portland, Oregon. She is on the faculty for the American Physical Therapy Association Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy (CAPP) program and is board certified in Biofeedback for Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction (BCB-PMD). She has received the Academy’s distinguished Elizabeth Noble Award, CAPP Instructor of the Year, and Distinguished Years of Service award. MJ has been developing course curriculum for the CAPP Pelvic Committee since 2006. She is the author of “Therapeutic Exercise in Obstetrics” in Therapeutic Interventions: Moving Toward Function and has provided content on pelvic organ prolapse in collaboration with the non-profit organization Our Bodies, Ourselves. She is a contributor to the Male and Female Genital and Reproductive Systems chapters in Goodman and Fuller’s recently released Pathology: Implications for the Physical Therapist, 5th edition. MJ developed and teaches the Academy’s collaborative course, “Pelvic Floor Intervention Strategies for Urogenital and Breast Cancer Rehabilitation”, based on her strong interest in and experience with cancer survivors with pelvic floor dysfunction. With more than 30 years of pelvic health experience, MJ has lectured both nationally and internationally on pelvic floor dysfunction and rehabilitation for men, women, and children.
