About Richard W. Bergstrom
Dr. Bergstrom graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA and then received his Medical Degree from the University of Washington. He fulfilled his internship and residency requirements at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio TX. Dr. Bergstrom returned to the University of Washington in Seattle for his Endocrinology fellowship and stayed on as an Instructor until joining PDEC in 1990. Dr. Bergstrom is Past President of the Gales Creek Camp Foundation for Children with Diabetes, and still serves on the Board of Directors. He is also Past President of the Oregon Affiliate of the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Bergstrom was honored to be invited to Washington, DC in 1997 for the Presidential signing of new legislation mandating insurance coverage for diabetes education and supplies. He has written and/or co-authored many articles and chapters regarding diabetes and other endocrine conditions.
