James Carlisle, M.D., wanted to be a family physician ever since he was a child. It was his college courses in biology and psychology that confirmed his decision to go into medicine. "The thing I love most about being a family doctor is the interaction with people," he says. In his practice, he provides comprehensive care for the whole family. Dr. Carlisle earned his undergraduate degree and his medical degree at the University of California, San Diego, in 1985. He completed his residency in family practice at Community Hospital in Santa Rosa, Calif. In his free time, Dr. Carlisle enjoys canoeing, cross-country skiing, hiking, backpacking and gardening. When the weather keeps him indoors, he keeps himself busy with woodworking projects.
