About Julian W. Bell
In his medical practice today, Julian Bell, MD, emphasizes good communication and listening, placing value on customer service. He believes that his role as a health care provider is to “improve a patient’s functional abilities.” This approach is consistent with his philosophy of care, which is to fix medical issues in the most effective, cost-efficient, fastest way possible.
“Sometimes it is possible to focus on medical details and get sidetracked from the patient's own medical goals. My aim is to address my patient's priorities. For this, good communication is essential,” he says.
Dr. Bell graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and then spent six months in Papua New Guinea working in a medical research institute in the New Guinea highlands. Following this experience with tropical medicine, he attended New York Medical College in Westchester, New York. Dr. Bell then moved to Chicago and completed specialty training at Rush University Medical Center in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.
When he is not working, Dr. Bell spends his time with his two children, in the garden, or fishing.
