About Sunil Rangappa
Sunil Rangappaunil Rangappa, M.D is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Rangappa’s expertise is Invasive Cardiology in addition to noninvasive cardiovascular imaging, including Transthoracic Echocardiography and Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology including SPECT, PET, Cardiac MRI and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and treatment of varicose veins using venaseal technology. He has been recognized by the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) as a Diplomate in Comprehensive Adult Echocardiography. He has also been recognized as a Diplomate by both the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC).
His primary clinical interests are Valvular Heart Diseases, Cardiomyopathies (Heart failure), and post operative care of Heart Transplantation patients, in addition to preventive cardiology, coronary atherosclerosis and cholesterol management.
His research interest includes stem cells applications for myocardial regeneration. He has extensively published in the area of stem cells with focus on myocardial regeneration. He is recipient of the Best Young Investigator award from Singapore Cardiac Society and National University of Singapore. He is also recipient of the Alliance of Cardiovascular Researchers/ Brown Research Foundation Award for 2004 and William B Kirlin 2002 Research Award for “Differentiation of adult stem cells into cardiomyocytes” from Cardiovascular Institute of Philadelphia. In addition, he has presented at the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association Annual Scientific Sessions and has published his work in Circulation, Journal of American College of Cardiology, Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, American Society for Artificial Internal Organs, International Society of Heart & Lung Transplantation.
He trained at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center – UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles in Cardiovascular Diseases. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Philadelphia.
He is active member of American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and California Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
He is on medical staff at Cedar Sinai Heart Institute in Beverly Hills, Providence Holycross Medical Center, Mission Hills, Valley Presbyterian Hospital, Van Nuys all located Los Angeles County.
