Dr. Erik Olsson is originally from Asheville, North Carolina. He is a fellowship-trained Spine surgeon and Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Erik received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he competed in varsity track and cross country. He completed medical school at the University of North Carolina, School of Medicine where he graduated with distinction. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, and then continued his postgraduate training with a fellowship in Spine Surgery at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The spine fellowship program at the Rothman Institute was recently ranked first in the country for volume and academic impact. Dr. Olsson has presented his research at local, regional and national levels, and he has multiple publications in the medical literature. He treats all disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, including adult spinal deformity. He has special interests in the cervical spine and complex cervical reconstruction and non-fusion alternatives including cervical disc replacement. In his free time he enjoys road biking, running, skiing and spending time with his wife and sons.
