Ryan B. Empey, MD

Dr. Empey grew up in the Rocky Mountains of Utah and lived in China, Taiwan, and Iowa before moving to Portland. He attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City for both medical school and his undergraduate degree in human development and family studies. He completed his OB/GYN specialty training at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. During school and residency, Dr. Empey was recognized for academic achievement, leadership and teaching. He is board certified in OB/GYN. Dr. Empey appreciates getting to know his patients and their families, listening to their stories and health concerns and being able to apply his knowledge and skills to help them. He enjoys all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology and is particularly interested in minimally invasive surgery, infertility, high-risk obstetrics, family planning and birth control. Dr. Empey speaks Mandarin Chinese and spent time working at Zhongshan Hospital in GuangZhou, China. He was raised with a love of the outdoors and earned his Eagle Scout with a Bronze Eagle Palm when he was 15. Today, he enjoys fishing, kayaking, running and mountain biking. He has three children and is engaged to be married.
